Suos Directeur Special Awards

I am submitting this
article about Special Awards with the permission of Grand
Directeur Jack Thurman. It is my pleasure to have been
appointed to the National Special Awards as Sous Directeur
for 2009. I would like to pass on some information about the
four Special Awards.
Grand Du Illinois is
certainly not a stranger to this great program! Grand Du Il.
has been recognized in the past as being one of two Grands
that had a nomination for all four Special Awards for the
first time! We can have that recognition again with your
taking the time to submit candidates for the four Awards.
These awards are; Hero
of the Year, Law Officer of the Year, Voyageur of the Year
and City or Town of the Year. We have had many recipients of
these awards in the past and I know we will have another
year of great nominees again this year! Don’t let a
deserving person or city/town go unrecognized. Remember 2004
when Steve Wagner was National Voyageur of the year? Let's
have another National winner this year!
To do this we need your
help! If you have any candidates in mind to nominate for
these awards, now is the time to start collecting news
clippings, pictures, statements from friends or family,
anything to support the reason you nominate a candidate.
I will remind you that the
process has to be done, signed and submitted to the
Nationale Judge by July 1, 2009. That is only four short
months, so get started today. The Nomination and
Participation form will be in the Petite Communique, and
your Correspondant Locale will be receiving it soon! Ask him
for a copy of it for the guidelines. If you can’t get a copy
contact Jack Thurman or myself for assistance.
